How do I make a custom Slack emoji?
Create a square image — ideally a 128×128 pixel PNG with a transparent background — then in Slack click your workspace name → Customize → Emoji → Add Custom Emoji and upload the file. Robot Camouflage generates the image from a text description, removes the background, suggests a name, and exports the right size; the upload into Slack is the one step you do yourself.
The department considers that final step a trust exercise.
What size are Slack emoji?
Slack recommends square images of 128×128 pixels, under 128KB, in PNG, JPG, or GIF format. Slack displays them much smaller — roughly 22 pixels inline — so the subject should fill as much of the square as possible. Robot Camouflage exports exactly 128×128 transparent PNGs with the subject filling the frame.
Why is my Slack emoji blurry or tiny?
The three usual causes: the uploaded image was smaller than 128×128 (Slack scales it up), it wasn't square (Slack squishes non-square images into a square, distorting them), or the subject had large margins so it renders small. Upload a square 128×128 PNG with the subject edge-to-edge.
Our exports fill the frame for exactly this reason. Every pixel reports for duty.
How does Robot Camouflage work?
You type a description of the emoji you want. An AI image model generates it, the background is removed automatically, a Slack-style name like :toner_demand: is suggested, and you download a Slack-ready 128×128 transparent PNG. Editing and export happen in your browser and are always free.
Is there a free way to try it?
Yes. Every new account gets 25 free credits with no card required — enough for about two finished emoji, since drafts cost 1 credit and finals cost 4.
How much does it cost?
Credit packs start at $5 for 100 credits, in USD. Drafts cost 1 credit and finals cost 4. Packs are one-time purchases — no subscription — and credits never expire.
Does Robot Camouflage connect to my Slack workspace?
No, never. You download a PNG and upload it to Slack yourself. We have no access to your workspace, your messages, or your emoji list.
What is the difference between a draft and a final?
Drafts (1 credit) are fast, lower-cost renders for trying ideas. Finals (4 credits) are higher-quality renders for the emoji you will actually upload. Most emoji take a few drafts and one final.
What file format do Slack emoji need to be?
Slack accepts PNG, JPG, and GIF (up to 50 frames). A PNG with a transparent background looks best because it works on both light and dark Slack themes. Robot Camouflage exports transparent PNGs.
Can I use the emoji in Discord or Microsoft Teams too?
Yes. The export is a standard 128×128 transparent PNG that you own. Discord recommends the same dimensions for its custom emoji, and Microsoft Teams accepts custom emoji images as well.
Who owns the emoji I generate?
You do, as far as we are concerned — we claim no rights to your outputs and do not store them on our servers; they live in your browser. One honest caveat: the copyright status of AI-generated images is legally unsettled in most places. See our Terms for the full version.
Do I need permission to add emoji to my Slack workspace?
It depends on the workspace. By default any member can add custom emoji, but workspace admins can restrict it. If you do not see the Add Custom Emoji option, ask a workspace admin.
What shows up on my credit card statement?
ROBOTCAMOUFLAGE. Payments are processed by Stripe — we never see or store your card number.
What is the Semantic Countermeasures Dept.?
