About the program
What Robot Camouflage is
Robot Camouflage is a real tool for making custom Slack emoji. Semantic Countermeasures is the department we invented to justify it. The real part: you type a description — “a haunted printer demanding toner” — and it generates a custom Slack emoji, background removed, sensibly named, exported as a 128×128 PNG ready to upload. You start with 25 free credits, packs start at $5, and there’s no subscription. It never connects to your Slack workspace: you download the file and upload it yourself.
Who makes it
Robot Camouflage is built by Jef, a developer of twenty-plus years with apparently nothing better to do. He kept wanting emoji that didn’t exist. He cannot draw. He declined to learn. His solution: evade the robots one taco at a time. We’d call it overengineering, but he’s standing right there.
Why it’s called Robot Camouflage
The machines read everything we write, so plain words are a lost cause. But an emoji your team invented last Tuesday — a possum presenting a five-year plan, a taco in a business suit — is a private language that updates faster than any model can train. That’s our whole plan for surviving the robot overlords: not bunkers, just inside jokes at industrial volume. The name honors our first escapee: a small, cheerful robot hiding under a leaf. An image model looked straight at him and logged “foliage.” The camouflage worked. We named the entire website after him.
